What is LSCS?
LSCS (Lower Segment Cesarean Section) is a surgical procedure used to deliver a baby through an incision made in the lower part of the abdomen and uterus. It is one of the safest and most commonly performed obstetric surgeries worldwide, ensuring a healthy delivery when a normal vaginal birth is not possible or safe.
At Shree Clinic, we focus on performing LSCS only when medically necessary — prioritizing both mother’s safety and baby’s wellbeing. Our approach combines advanced surgical care with compassionate support to make the experience smooth and reassuring.

When is LSCS Recommended?
A cesarean section may be planned in advance or performed as an emergency if complications arise during labor.
Some common reasons include:
Planned (Elective) LSCS:
- Previous cesarean delivery (repeat section)
- Breech or abnormal baby position
- Multiple pregnancies (twins or more)
- Placenta previa (placenta covering the cervix)
- Certain maternal health conditions (e.g., high blood pressure, diabetes)
Emergency LSCS:
- Fetal distress (baby not getting enough oxygen)
- Prolonged or obstructed labor
- Cord prolapse (umbilical cord slipping into the birth canal)
- Failure of labor to progress despite contractions
At Shree Clinic, every case is carefully evaluated to decide the safest delivery mode for both mother and child.
Procedure Overview
During an LSCS, the mother is given spinal or epidural anesthesia, allowing her to stay awake but pain-free during delivery.
- A horizontal incision is made in the lower abdomen and uterus (the “bikini cut”).
- The baby is gently delivered, followed by the placenta.
- The incisions are carefully sutured in layers for safe healing.
The entire procedure usually takes 30 to 45 minutes, and mothers can begin recovery shortly afterward with close monitoring.
Recovery After LSCS
Recovery from a cesarean section takes slightly longer than normal delivery, but with proper care, mothers heal well and can resume normal activities within a few weeks.
At Shree Clinic, we guide every mother through a smooth recovery process:
- Early Mobilization: Gentle walking within 12–24 hours after surgery
- Pain Management: Safe and effective medications for comfort
- Wound Care: Regular check-ups to ensure proper healing
- Breastfeeding Support: Assistance to start and maintain breastfeeding
- Postpartum Guidance: Advice on rest, diet, and gradual physical activity
Possible Risks and Complications
While LSCS is a safe and routine procedure, as with any surgery, there are potential risks such as:
- Infection or delayed wound healing
- Excessive bleeding
- Blood clots (rare)
- Breathing difficulties in the newborn (if delivered before 39 weeks)
At Shree Clinic, these risks are minimized through strict safety protocols, skilled surgical care, and advanced monitoring systems.
